The youthful Siuslaw Vikings finished second in the boys race and third in the girls Saturday at the annual Woahink Lake Cross Country Invitational at Honeyman State Park.

Class 6A West Linn won both the boys and girls varsity races, with Philomath second in the girls chase.

Sophomore Brendon Jensen once again paced the Siuslaw boys, completing the 5,000 meters in 17 minutes, 30.7 seconds for 12th overall among 96 boys.

Senior Isaac Griffes ran 17:37.8, sophomore Jared Northrop a PR 17:45.5, sophomore Kiger Johnson 18:00.9 and sophomore Jonah Jarman 18:08.1.

Siuslaw sophomore Hannah Rannow ran a PR 20:05.02 to place seventh overall among 72 girls.

Rannow was followed by freshman Brea Blankenship in a PR 21:28.66, sophomore Anne Wartnik in 22:00.63, sophomore Chloe Madden in a PR 22:10.70 and freshman Gracie Freudenthal in a PR 22:19.63.

Bandon senior Josh Snyder was first in the boys race in 16:24.30 and Bandon senior Sailor Hutton was first in the girls race in 18:40.24.

In the middle school race, the Siuslaw boys were third and the girls were fifth.

Next up for the Vikings is the Paul Mariman Invitational this coming Saturday at Philomath.
