The Siuslaw Vikings girls volleyball team remains in title contention with two matches remaining in the Far West League regular season.

The Vikings swept the Douglas Trojans, 3-0, Thursday to move to one game out of first place.

Siuslaw won 25-23, 25-23, 28-26.

Junior middle blocker Makenzie York had 16 kills, 6 aces and 5 block solos to lead the Vikings. Senior outside hitter Emma Collins had 6 kills and 2 aces and junior right side Alyssa Richards had 5 kills and 3 aces.

Junior outside hitter Jordan Long, senior libero Maci Wells and Emma Collins had 8 digs each.

With the win, the Vikings are tied for third place with North Bend at 5-3 in league. Marshfield and South Umpqua share first place at 6-2.

South Umpqua beat Marshfield on Thursday, 3-2, taking the decisive fifth set 15-6.

North Bend swept winless Brookings-Harbor, 3-0.

Siuslaw plays at North Bend on Tuesday and at South Umpqua on Thursday.

The Vikings also are scheduled to play in the Marshfield Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.
