Hidden Valley is up next for Siuslaw boys


The Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball team tips off the new year at 4 p.m. Friday with a nonleague game against Hidden Valley at Cottage Grove.

The game is part of the Sky-Em/Skyline Crossover tournament. Siuslaw is 5-7 this season, Hidden Valley 7-4.

The Lady Vikings also will be playing Friday against a team to be announced at Mazama High School in Klamath Falls.

Also scheduled on the boys side, it's Cottage Grove vs. North Valley, Marist vs. Henley, Elmira vs. Phoenix, Junction City vs. Klamath Union and Marshfield vs. Mazama.

The only girls pairings announced include Marist vs. Hidden Valley and Junction City vs. Henley.

Sky-Em League schools include Cottage Grove, Elmira, Junction City, Marist, Marshfield and Siuslaw.

Skyline League schools include Henley, Hidden Valley, Klamath Falls, Mazama, North Valley and Phoenix.

The Marshfield girls were ranked No. 1 in the OSAAtoday 4A coaches' poll released Monday, Dec. 31. Marist was No. 6, while Cottage Grove and Junction City were tied at No. 9.

Hidden Valley was the only ranked team from the Skyline at No. 8.

Marshfield was No. 3 in the OSAAtoday 4A poll released Tuesday. No other Sky-Em League or Skyline League team was in the top 10.

The crossover tournament continues with a full slate of games Saturday.

Siuslaw then opens league play on Friday, Jan. 11, hosting Cottage Grove at Glenn Butler Court. The boys' game tips off at 5:45 p.m., the girls' game to follow.
