The Siuslaw Vikings' boys basketball team gets a second life Friday when it opens Sky-Em League play at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw, 5-9, will host Cottage Grove at 5:45 p.m. Coast Radio will air the game live, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Lions, who opened the season with 10 losses in a row, are 1-2, with a game at Crook County on Tuesday before they head to Florence.

Siuslaw is ranked No. 30 and Cottage Grove No. 34 by the Oregon School Activities Association in Class 4A.

For either team to qualify for the postseason, they would need to finish first or second in league play, or move into the rankings' top 20.

The teams have two common opponents, Skyline schools Hidden Valley and North Valley from Grants Pass.

Cottage Grove lost 41-40 at North Valley on Dec. 8 and dropped a 49-46 decision to Hidden Valley in the recently completed Sky-Em/Skyline Crossover.

Siuslaw lost to Hidden Valley, 70-56, and North Valley, 48-32, in this past weekend's crossover tournament at Cottage Grove.

The Vikings follow the Cottage Grove game with three road trips, to Marist, Marshfield and Elmira, before completing the first round of league play Jan. 25, hosting Junction City.
