The Siuslaw Vikings girls bowling team was first place at North Bend and the boys team second at home Sunday, their highest finishes of the season.

The Lady Vikings, who were second in state last season, defeated Marshfield to the tournament title Sunday. Earlier, they defeated Cottage Grove in the semifinals after finishing qualifying as the No. 1 seed.

The Siuslaw boys were fourth place after qualifying at Holiday Bowl, their home lanes. The Vikings beat top seed Sheldon in the semifinals, then lost a tough finals match with North Bend.

Each team has two more tournaments scheduled ahead of district qualifying, set for Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27, at Holiday Bowl.

The Lady Vikings are at North Bend on Sunday, while the boys are at Cottage Grove. Both teams will compete at Firs Bowl in Eugene on Sunday, Jan. 20.

The state tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24, AMF Firebird Lanes in Salem.
