The Cottage Grove Lions welcomed the Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball team back to the Sky-Em League on Friday night with a 59-42 victory at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw fell to 5-10 overall, 0-1 in league, while Cottage Grove is 3-12 and 1-0.

The Vikings play their next three games on the road, at Marist in Eugene on Tuesday, at Marshfield next Friday and at Elmira on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Siuslaw next plays at home Friday, Jan. 25, hosting Junction City at 5:45 p.m.

Senior Dylan Wynn led the Vikings with 15 points against the Lions. Sophomore Liam McClellan added 11.

Cottage Grove senior Erick Vallejo Giffin had a game-high 22 points, including 14 in the first quarter as the Lions took a 19-8 lead.

Siuslaw trailed by 34-24 at halftime and were never closer than seven points in the second half.

The Vikings had six 3-pointers in the game, three each by Wynn and McClellan.

In other Sky-Em League games, Marist won at Elmira, 47-35, and Marshfield defeated visiting Junction City, 55-49.
