Vikings' Elijah LaCosse second at Sutherlin

Siuslaw sophomore Elijah LaCosse was runner-up at 132 pounds Saturday for the Vikings' top boys varsity finish at the Sutherlin Wrestling Classic.

Siuslaw junior Antwan Ho won the 145-150 boys novice championship, going 3-0 with three pins.

In girls varsity, freshman Bailey Overton and sophomore Adrianna Edwards had second-place finishes for the Lady Vikings, while freshman Hayden Muller and junior Kinga Bugajska each had third-place finishes.

LaCosse opened by pinning North Bend's Gabriel Johnson in 4 minutes, 44 seconds, then followed with an 18-3 technical fall over Chance Ralston of Cottage Grove.

Sutherlin's Bryce Olsen pinned LaCosse in the championship match in 1:42.

Siuslaw junior Matthew Horrillo was third place at 285, beating Zach Vigil of Glide on a tiebreaker, 2-1.

In other matches, Vikings sophomore Ryan Jennings (152) and senior Riley Jennings (170) had fourth-place finishes and sophomore Christian Newlan (182) a sixth place.

Siuslaw finished eighth in a field of 16 schools with 79.5 points. Dayton was first with 150, followed by Sutherlin with 124 and Elmira with 121.

Siuslaw has two home meets next week, including the annual Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Tuesday, the Vikings host Siletz Valley/Eddyville Charter and Toledo in a three-way dual meet.
