Vikings take down Toledo in dual meet, 36-9

Brady Libby, Hector Garcia and Matthew Horrillo picked up pins Tuesday to power the Siuslaw Vikings wrestling team to a 36-9 victory over Toledo in a dual meet at the Siuslaw High School gym.

Siletz Valley/Eddyville was a no-show in the scheduled three-way dual.

Saturday, Siuslaw hosts its premier annual event, the Nick Lutz Memorial Invitational.

Twenty schools are scheduled to compete, including Amity, Churchill, Cottage Grove, Crow, Elmira, North Bend, North Valley, Oakland, Philomath, Riddle, Sheldon, Siletz Valley, South Eugene, South Medford, Springfield, Sutherlin, Toledo, Waldport and Willamette.

Action is set to get underway after 9 a.m.

Tuesday, Libby got the Vikings rolling with a pin over Ethan Ferris in 2 minutes, 11 seconds, avenging a loss from last year.

Garcia pinned Jacoby Simmons in 3:20 and Horrillo pinned Jon Duarte in 2:41.

Siuslaw's Elijah LaCosse, Riley Jennings and Christian Newlan each won by forfeit.

Toledo won at 145 pounds, Kyle Hayner pinning Antwan Ho in 57 seconds, and at 152, Trenton Hutchinson winning by decision over Ryan Jennings, 11-6.
