The Elmira Falcons went on a 12-0 run midway through the first half, then held on for a 36-34 victory over the visiting Siuslaw Vikings in Sky-Em League girls basketball Tuesday.

The Lady Vikings (0-4 and 4-14) entertain Junction City on Friday to complete the first half of league play.

Elmira is now 1-3 and 3-13.

Sophomores Lindsey Long and Gracie Freudenthal had 10 points each to lead the Lady Vikings.

Senior Sydney Greene hit three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 12 points, while senior Carly Grossmiller hit 6-of-8 free throws and added 10 points.

Siuslaw shot ahead 8-2 in the game, but the Falcons scored the final eight points of the first quarter and first four of the second to go ahead 14-8.

Elmira would never trail again.

The Falcons took a 22-15 lead at halftime, and led 27-22 at the end of the third quarter.

Siuslaw had its chances in the fourth quarter, but missed 10 of 14 free throws to let the Falcons off the hook.
