Junction City senior co-captains Cameron Gibson and Trae Knabe combined for 29 points Friday to power the Tigers to a 54-39 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw fell to 0-5 in Sky-Em League boys basketball play, 5-14 overall.

The Vikings open the second half of league play Friday, Feb. 1, at Cottage Grove. Tipoff is 7:15 p.m.

Freshman Braydon Thornton led the Vikings with 13 points, while sophomore Jacob Foskett and junior Caleb Hennessee had 6 points each.

Siuslaw closed the first quarter with 7 points to take an 11-10 lead into the second quarter.

Junction City slipped ahead 14-12 on baskets by Gibson and 6-foot-5 senior Maxx Thielman and never trailed again.

The Tigers led 27-22 at halftime and 45-31 after three quarters.

In other league games Friday, Marshfield beat Elmira 63-39 in Coos Bay and Marist clipped visiting Cottage Grove, 62-49.
