The No. 5-ranked Marshfield Pirates scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter and cruised to a 56-43 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in Sky-Em League boys basketball Friday at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw fell to 5-17 overall and 0-8 in league, while Marshfield is 18-4 and 8-0.

The Vikings celebrate senior recognition night Tuesday, hosting Elmira. Tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Siuslaw seniors include Nick Swift, Jordan Taniguchi and Dylan Wynn.

Siuslaw closes its season Thursday at Junction City.

Friday, the Vikings scored the first four points of the game and trailed by only a point, 11-10, at the end of the first quarter.

Senior Jacob Carpenter, who had a game-high 14 points, hit three consecutive 3-pointers and senior Jordy Miles hit a 3-pointer as Marshfield broke to a 23-10 lead.

The Pirates carried a 29-18 lead into the second half.

The Vikings went on an 8-0 run to end the third quarter, cutting Marshfield's lead to eight points at 40-32.

The Pirates went on a 13-0 run for a 21-point lead, 53-32.

Wynn had a team-high 13 points for the Vikings, while teammate Braydon Thornton, a freshman, added 11.

In other Sky-Em League games Friday, Marist beat visiting Junction City, 61-42, and Elmira topped visiting Cottage Grove, 57-47.

With two games to play, Marshfield leads the Sky-Em at 8-0. Marist is 7-1, Junction City 4-4, Cottage Grove 3-5, Elmira 2-6 and Siuslaw 0-8.
