Sky-Em advances just two to boys playoffs

The Sky-Em League will have only two schools in the 20-team field for the Oregon School Activities Association 4A boys basketball playoffs.

The Cowapa League advanced seven schools to the playoffs.

Marshfield beat Marist at Siuslaw on Tuesday, 50-31, for the league's top seed. Marist will go as the No. 2 seed.

The first- and second-place teams from each of the six 4A schools are automatic qualifiers.

The next eight in the final OSAA rankings pair off in play-in games Friday for the final four berths in the 16-team first round.

Play-in matchups have Sweet Home at Newport, La Grande at Philomath, Klamath Falls at Sisters and Cascade at Valley Catholic.

The eight winners from the first round advanced to the final eight, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and final March 7-9 at Forest Grove High School.
