Vikings coach Neil Wartnik's final review:

  • "We had a great year. The team members grew in character, skill, toughness, and spirit. While we had no hammer like Richard Huff was for last year's team, we had a solid group of quality wrestlers. We placed better in most tournaments than the year before because we had a more balanced team. If the team's growth continues on the pace we have been improving, next year's team could be very good, and we will have one or two hammers. This year's team was adversely impacted by injuries to Pedro (Luiz) Infante and Christian Newlan. They were leaders, and they strengthened our upper weights. Their absence hurt us significantly. Hopefully next year the team won't have injuries to key personnel, but we have limited control over that. Also, we are hoping to have our strongest eighth-grade class enter the high school since the class of 2004. Hopefully we can do a good job of bringing this group in."
