Marshfield senior righthander Cam Olson tossed a two-hit shutout Tuesday to lead the Pirates to a 6-0 victory over the Siuslaw Vikings in Sky-Em League baseball at Coos Bay.

The Vikings, 0-7 in league and 1-13 overall, host Marist Catholic in a doubleheader Friday at Dodson Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Pirates are now 2-5 and 5-9.

"While our defense didn't play great, having 7 errors, it really doesn't matter how many extra runs we give up when we strike out 15 times and only get 2 hits," Siuslaw coach Tom Shinn said.

"I thought both Caleb (Hennessee) and Jared (Northrop) did well pitching, we just didn't give them any support offensively or defensively."

One play almost made Shinn's day.

"Clayton Remilong made a fantastic diving catch in left field tonight," he said.

Hennessee started and went 3 1-3 innings, allowing four runs, three earned runs. Northrop pitched 2 2-3 innings of relief, allowing two runs, none earned.

Olson struck out 15 and walked two.

Northrop and Gabe Simington each had a single for the Vikings hits.

Logan Peck was 3-for-4 and fellow junior Tandy Martin 2-for-4 with a double for Marshfield.
