The Siuslaw Vikings football team nearly avenged its biggest loss from last season, a 68-point, 74-6 trashing at the hands of visiting Elmira.

Friday, at Philomath, the Vikings have a chance to atone for their closest loss of last season.

The Warriors, 2-6 last season, losing their final six games, posted a 25-point, 33-8 defeat on Siuslaw in Game 2 of a forgettable 0-8 season for the Vikings.

Philomath is 1-0 this season after a 15-13 victory this past Friday at Junction City, a defensive battle decided by a safety against Junction City.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. The Weather Channel projects 67 degrees and mostly cloudy at the start of the game.
