Siuslaw junior quarterback Elijah Blankenship's school record for passing yards in a game had the shelf life of one week.

Friday, Blankenship hit 23 of 31 passes for 337 yards in a 42-20 victory over Newport to raise the bar higher.

A week earlier, Blankenship threw for a then-record 318 yards at Philomath.

Blankenship has passed for 870 yards in three games, which is the 27th best all-time for a SEASON by a Viking, passing Jack Butler (861 in 1982).

Blankenship has completed 55 of 83 passes, a .663 percentage that currently stands second all-time to Jacob Mitchell, who had a .667 percentage (136 of 201) in 2007.

Remarkably, he has not been intercepted once, while throwing for five touchdowns.

Sophomore wide receiver Braydon Thornton has been the No. 1 target, with 30 receptions for 506 yards and five touchdowns.

Blankenship leads the Vikings in rushing with 305 yards on 37 carries for four touchdowns through three games.

Sophomore running back Camp Lacouture has 41 carries for 280 yards and two touchdowns and junior running back Hector Garcia a team-high 48 carries for 226 yards and a TD.
