The Siuslaw volleyball team took a tough hit Tuesday, but that doesn't mean the Lady Vikings will miss the state playoffs.

No, not when they are among the top eight schools in the mix for an Oregon School Activities Association play-in game.

Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Marshfield was something of a missed opportunity for Siuslaw to move up from its No. 18 ranking.

The Lady Pirates rallied from down 2-sets-to-1 for a 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-13, 15-11 victory in a key Sky-Em League match at Glenn Butler Court.

Marshfield is now third in league at 4-4, while Siuslaw shares fourth place with Marist Catholic at 3-5.

The Lady Vikings will need to take care of business Thursday when they play at last-place Elmira (0-8). First serve is 6:30 p.m.

Siuslaw closes its league season with a home match Tuesday against Junction City. It will be senior night for Mia Collins and Elissa Hurley.

Tuesday, Collins had 9 kills and 15 digs and Hurley 7 kills and 2 blocks for the Lady Vikings.

Freshman Desi Tupua had 11 kills, 2 aces, 4 digs and a block, another glimpse of good seasons ahead.

For Marshfield, Cedar Ward had 13 kills, Jamie Foster 12 and Taylor Londo 10.

Londo also had 28 assists and 15 digs, Makenna Anderson 21 digs and Raegan Rhodes 7 kills and 9 assists.

Elsewhere Tuesday, Cottage Grove swept Elmira 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-16) and Junction City swept Marist Catholic 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-15).

Thursday, Marshfield hosts Marist Catholic and Junction City entertains Cottage Grove.
