SMS boys second, girls third in district meet

The Siuslaw Middle School boys cross country team has qualified for a postseason meet with a second-place finish Tuesday at the Far West League district meet at Tugman State Park.

The Siuslaw boys will join North Bend at the PDX Preview on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Pier Park in Portland.

The SMS Vikings boys and girls teams also will compete in The Run for the Brownies on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Florence Golf Links.

The Vikings boys scored 54 points Tuesday to 37 by first-place North Bend. Marshfield was third among seven schools with 78.

Siuslaw eighth-graders Dylan Jensen (third), Brayden Linton (fourth) and Talan Ross (eighth) finished in the top 10, while eighth-grader Ethan Jagoe was 18th and sixth-grader Kale Jensen 27th.

Sixth-grader Camden Linton was 36th and seventh-grader Ryan Klampe 41st and will join the top five at Pier Park in Portland.

The Lady Vikings were third in an eight-school field, with Addison McNeill 10th overall and second among seventh-graders and Jane Lacouture 11th overall and sixth among eighth-graders.
