Vikings' Buss, LaCosse advance to semis


Siuslaw's Elijah LaCosse pinned all three of his opponents Friday.

Siuslaw freshman Mason Buss and junior Elijah LaCosse have advanced to Saturday's championship semifinals of the Grants Pass Winter Kickoff wrestling tournament.

Buss beat Tanner Seidel of Glendale, 12-5, in the quarterfinals at 120 pounds, while LaCosse recorded three pins to earn a spot in the semifinals at 145.

LaCosse pinned JC Cranmer of Grants Pass in 2:10, Brian Massey of Modoc in 1:40 and Cody Rambo of North Valley in 2:29.

Four Vikings are still competing in consolation, freshman Yoskar Delamora at 106, junior Ryan Jennings at 152, senior Louis Gentry at 160 and senior Matthew Horrillo at 285.

Jennings was the busiest Viking, winning four of five matches at 152, three by pins.

In the junior varsity tournament, freshman Ian Sissel had three pins Friday to advance to the championship semifinals at 160.

Lady Vikings Arrianna Brown and Hayden Muller will compete Saturday in the girls tournament.
