Sophomore Brody Terry had 14 points and junior Liam McClellan 12 Friday to lead the Siuslaw Vikings to a 60-38 nonleague boys basketball victory over the Douglas Trojans at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw is now 3-6 for the season, winning 3 of its past 4 games. Douglas is 2-6.

"We got off to a slow start in the first quarter," Siuslaw coach Dylan Perry said. "We have really been preaching that we need to start fast and finish strong. We missed some open shots we normally make and Douglas hit theirs to keep the game close at the end of the first, 12-9.

"The second quarter we started to execute on the offense and defense end of the court. Offensively we slowed down and took what their defense allowed us to. Defensively we started to play some hard nose man to man and ended the first half up 32-15.

"We continued on the same path and stretched our lead each of the remaining quarters. It's always a good feeling when you can get everyone in the game that suited up. There were lots of smiles in the locker room after the game. But we know we have a lot more work to do. Eyes are on East Linn next Friday night in Bandon."

The Vikings open defense of their Bandon Dunes Holiday Invitational title Friday against East Linn Christian Academy of Lebanon. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at Harbor Lights Middle School in Bandon.

Douglas senior Andy Schofield had a team-high 11 points, 10 in the first half. Senior Braeden Edwards added 9.

Ten Vikings shared in the scoring as Perry emptied his bench in the second half.

The Vikings played without leading scorer Braydon Thornton, who had to sit following his ejection from the South Umpqua game. …

East Linn Christian Academy is 2-6 for the season… The Eagles play in the Class 2A Central Valley Conference. …
