Siuslaw secures Nick Lutz Invitational title

The Siuslaw Vikings crowned three individual champions Saturday to capture the Nick Lutz Invitational wrestling tournament title at Glenn Butler Court.

It was the second major tournament title in as many weekends for the Vikings, who last week won the Sutherlin Classic.

Siuslaw had 168 points to 144.5 by runner-up Willamette and 137 by Sutherlin.

Sheldon followed with 111, Elmira 103, Siletz Valley 90, Cottage Grove 84, Oakland 73.5, North Bend 73 and Douglas rounding out the top 10 with 70.

Twenty teams competed.

Toledo had 66, South Eugene 62, Gold Beach 56, Glendale 47, Amity 39, North Douglas 30, Creswell 27, Newport 24, Churchill 22 and Waldport 1.

Yoskar Delamora (106 pounds), Mason Buss (120) and Elijah LaCosse (145) each won individual titles for the Vikings.

Ryan Jennings and Matthew Horrillo were tough-luck runners-up, Jennings losing 3-2 in the 152 final to Kyler Wells of Sutherlin and Horrillo falling 1-0 in the 285 final to Kenneth Johnson of Siletz Valley.

Delamora and Buss had 28 points each for the Vikings and LaCosse 24. Ryan Jennings had 22, Christian Newlan 20 and Horrillo 18.

Hunter Petterson had 11, Jason Garcia 8, Louis Gentry 6 and Jonathan Rose 3.

The Vikings next compete at the Sky-Em Duals on Friday and the Bay City Duals on Saturday, both at Marshfield.
