The Siuslaw Vikings girls bowling team has advanced to the state championships Feb. 22-23 in Salem.

The Vikings boys will be staying home, missing out by 2 pins.

Sunday, the Lady Vikings finished third in the District 4 qualifying tournament at Firs Bowl in Eugene to earn their berth in state.

The Siuslaw boys finished fourth, two pins behind Cottage Grove. The top three teams advance to the finals round, with all three assured berth at state.

The Vikings boys and girls teams were defending district champions.

Cottage Grove beat Marshfield for the girls title, 323-310, and those two teams will advance to state with Siuslaw.

North Bend beat Willamette for the boys title, 385-342, and those two teams will advance to state with third-place Cottage Grove.

Lady Vikings Faith Coday and Elissa Hurley were named to the five-player girls all-star team.

Also on the team were Kari Kendrick and Joleen Skiller of Cottage Grove and Jordan Nelson of North Bend.

Kindrick was named girls district most valuable player.

The boys all-star team includes Chase Taylor and Keegan Jelinek of North Bend, Mathew Knots of Thurston, Chris Allen of Cottage Grove and Hunter Coney of Marshfield.

Jelinek was named boys district most valuable player.
