Junction City hit three 3-pointers in overtime as the Tigers held off the visiting Siuslaw Vikings, 63-56, in a Sky-Em League boys basketball playoff game at Junction City.

Junction City plays Monday at Marshfield, with the winner of that game advancing to the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A state tournament as the Sky-Em's No. 2 automatic qualifier.

League champion Marist Catholic, ranked No. 1 in the state, is the Sky-Em's No. 1 automatic qualifier.

Siuslaw, 11-14 overall, still has a chance — albeit longer now — to advance as one of eight play-in teams.

The Vikings, No. 21 in the OSAA rankings, need to squeeze into the top 20 by 10 p.m. Tuesday, when rankings freeze.

Newport, currently No. 20, lost Friday to visiting Philomath, 38-34, in an Oregon West Conference game. Newport closes its regular season Tuesday, hosting Sweet Home.

Siuslaw sophomore Braydon Thornton lit up the Tigers for a game-high 26 points Friday.

Riley Sangermano led Junction City with 18 points. Chris Ohman sank five 3-pointers for 15 points, nailing critical shots in overtime.

Junction City outscored Siuslaw 12-3 at the free-throw line, including 7-0 in the first half.

Junction City led after the first quarter, 13-11, and at halftime, 23-22.

Siuslaw slipped ahead 36-35 through three quarters, but trailed by five, 48-43, with a minute left in regulation.

Liam McClellan sank a 3-point shot and Thornton scored on a lay-in in the closing seconds to force overtime.
