Vikings' Horrillo now two wins from a title


Siuslaw senior Matthew Horrillo has advanced to semifinals of the 285-pound division in the Oregon State Activities Association Class 4A wrestling championships in Portland.

Horrillo, the No. 2 seed, will face Hidden Valley sophomore Christopher Woods, the No. 3 seed, in Saturday's semifinal match at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Vikings alive in consolation include freshman Mason Buss at 120, junior Elijah LaCosse at 138 and Ryan Jennings at 152. Each can finish as high as third place Saturday.

Siuslaw junior Christian Newlan and senior Luis Infante-Marquez were eliminated Friday.

Siuslaw's two girls qualifiers, sophomores Bailey Overton and Hayden Muller, were to wrestle in the evening session.
