There may be only two more chances to catch a Siuslaw Vikings home soccer match, and one them is today.

The Vikings will host Marist at 2 p.m. at the high school field, and there is room for more spectators.

"Now that we are at moderate risk, and our max numbers are 150, soccer is allowing spectators," Siuslaw coach Londi Tomaro said.

"Each person will need to complete a health screening, and masks and distancing will be required."

The Vikings, 1-2, are coming off their first-ever win at the varsity level, 4-0 over Elmira on Thursday.

Today's match at the high school field is Siuslaw's third in five days, and it's against one of the state's top teams.

Marist, 2-0, finished the last season played, in fall 2019, ranked No. 1, losing 1-0 in the state semifinals. The Spartans have opened this season with a 6-1 win over Cottage Grove and an 8-0 win at Junction City.

"I gave the team a pep talk about mental toughness yesterday, so hopefully they play their game together and stay strong.," Tomaro said. "We expect a tough game."

The match will be carried live on Facebook, and possibly YouTube.

Siuslaw will play four of its final matches on the road, with the final home game Tuesday, March 23, against Marshfield.
