Good things happen to those who wait.

For those waiting for the next Siuslaw Open Golf Tournament, it couldn't be better.

"We have changed the date from a normal August time to May (22)," Siuslaw Outreach Services executive director Bob Teter said. "We will be observing Covid-19 guidelines and protocols by staggering start times, requiring masks around the clubhouse and providing packaged meals."

The four-person team fee is $360 before May 1, $380 after. The one-day event, in its 11th year, will be held at the Florence Golf Links.

"We are in the process of setting up online registration," Teter said. :In the meantime, teams can sign up at the Florence Golf Links or Siuslaw Outreach Services.

"They also can sign up by calling our office at 541-997-2816."

Registration deadline is May 14.

"This year we're adding a new event, the Poker Run," Teter said. "The team with the high hand at the end of the tournament will win a prize."

There also is a hole-in-one contest for a camper trailer.

Event sponsors include Oregon Pacific Bank, Banner Bank, Mehlum Family, Peace Harbor Medical Center, Florence Dental Clinic, Johnson Motors and Jady Chiakowsky Orthodonics.

Siuslaw Football won last year's tournament with a score of 56.

Chrissy Davis won women's long drive, Nick Johnson men's long drive, Stephanie Wright women's closest to pin, Scott Mead men's closest to pin and Jim Renteria the putting contest.
