Siuslaw baseball coach Tom Shinn unveils his third team Tuesday at Cottage Grove for the first of 15 scheduled Sky-Em League games.

Siuslaw's home opener is Friday, with the Vikings hosting Elmira/Triangle Lake in a doubleheader at 3 p.m.

Seven of the 11 Vikings on the last Siuslaw roster, in 2019, have graduated, so there will be positions aplenty to fill.

Coast Radio will broadcast all games on the current schedule, with Wayne Sharpe and Randy Paredes handling play-by-play and color commentary.

"We most likely won't air any games that get postponed and rescheduled," station manager Jon Thompson said.

NOTES

The Vikings were 2-20 overall and 1-14 in the Sky-Em League in 2019, Shinn' second season of rebuilding the team. … Siuslaw was 4-19 and 2-13 in 2018 …

Assisting Shinn this season are Mike Dannewitz and Dan Rankin, while Jim Baxter is junior varsity coach ...

Former Siuslaw and Oregon State standout Jake Thompson, recovering from Tommy John surgery, is ready to resume his career with the Boston Red Sox organization. "Jake is in Florida for spring training and says his arm feels better every time he throws," Jakes' father, Jon, said. …
