The Siuslaw Vikings girls varsity basketball team now will open its season at home.

Tuesday's game at Pleasant Hill has been canceled. 

The junior varsity game at Pleasant Hill will be played, with a 4:30. p.m. tipoff. The game is scheduled for online viewing on the NFHS Network.

The Lady Vikings now are scheduled to open their season at home against North Bend at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Butler Court.

The game will be carried on Coast Radio, which will be on the air for the girls-boys doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.

There are no public tickets to home games and no visiting fans will be allowed as long as Lane County is designated high risk for covid-19, athletic director Chris Johnson announced.

Siuslaw players get two tickets each to admit family members.

Coach Ashlee Cole's 17-player roster includes nine freshmen, along with four sophomores, one junior and three seniors.

Seniors Brea Blankenship and Gracie Freudenthal still are competing in Season 3, both qualifying for the state track and field championships scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Hans Petersen Field.
