Vikings will need to be road warriors in 2021

Siuslaw coach Sam Johnson

Serious Siuslaw Vikings fans will need to pin down their travel schedule for the Fall 2021 season.

Five of the eight games on the Vikings' tentative schedule are on the road, including visits to Brookings-Harbor, Sisters, Gladstone, Pleasant Hill and Santiam Christian (Adair Village, near Corvallis).

The Vikings will open their season at home Friday, Sept. 3, against South Umpqua. (The game originally was listed on the OSAA website as a home game for South Umpqua.)

"The football schedule is up, but there are still a million moving pieces," Siuslaw athletic director Chris Johnson said. "It will 99 percent change somewhere, and it could change a lot."

All nine games on the Siuslaw schedule have 7 p.m. Friday kickoffs.

Santiam Christian, Gladstone and Junction City were each 5-1 in the delayed 2020 season, played this past March and April.

South Umpqua and La Pine were each 4-2, Pleasant Hill 2-3 and Sisters 2-4. Brookings-Harbor was 0-3.

Santiam Christian lost to Cascade Christian in the Class 3A Culminating Week championship game, 13-10.

Gladstone lost to Marshfield in the Class 4A Culminating Week third-place game, 41-14.

Junction City's only loss was to Santiam Christian.

Siuslaw was 3-3 in Sam Johnson's second season as head coach.
