Lady Vikings look for first win on Saturday


Senior guard Brea Blankenship had a team-high 9 points Thursday against visiting Marshfield.

Saturday will be a new day for the Siuslaw Vikings girls basketball, still seeking their first win of the season.

That's a day the 0-3 Lady Vikings take on the 0-5 Falcons at Elmira.

Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Thursday, the visiting Marshfield Pirates scored the game's first 14 points and coasted to a 45-13 victory over the Lady Vikings.

Siuslaw fell to 0-2 in the Sky-Em League, while Marshfield got even at 1-1. Junction City and Cottage Grove are each 2-0, Marist 1-1.

Siuslaw and Elmira are 0-2.

The Lady Falcons have had two tough league losses, 64-6 at Junction City and 68-11 at Cottage Grove.

Thursday, senior Brea Blankenship led the Lady Vikings with nine points, including a 3-pointer, all in the first half.

Seniors Lizbeth Garcia-Galvan and Gracie Freudenthal each had a field goal in the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Charlie Dea led Marshfield with 20 points.
