The Junction City Tigers scored the final 14 points of the third quarter Tuesday to pull away from the Siuslaw Vikings, 49-35, at Glenn Butler Court.

The Vikings fell to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the Sky-Em League.

The first-place Tigers are 8-0 and 4-0.

Siuslaw closes the first half of league play Thursday with a game at Cottage Grove. Tipoff is 5:45 p.m.

The Vikings made a game of it by taking the second quarter, 12-2, and taking an 18-16 lead at halftime.

Siuslaw built its biggest lead of four points early in the third quarter, 22-18, but senior wing Ben Heitz scored 8 points to fuel a 14-0 run that all but put the game away.

The Vikings trimmed the lead to eight points, 37-29, on a 3-point goal by senior Liam McClellan from the corner with 6 minutes to play.

The Tigers scored 8 of the next 10 points to pull away, 45-31, with 3 minutes to play, at which time both teams went to their benches.

Junior Braydon Thornton was the only Viking in double digits with 10 points. Juniors Avery Hart and Brody Terry had 9 and 7, respectively.

Heitz led the Tigers with 16, senior Riley Sangermano added 14 and junior Colby Evans 10.
