The Siuslaw Vikings girls basketball team closed out the first half of league play Thursday with a 55-20 loss at Cottage Grove.

The Lady Vikings, 1-3 in the Sky-Em League and 1-4 overall, host Marist at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Butler Court.

Cottage Grove improved to 5-0 in league and 6-2 overall.

The Lady Lions were never threatened, taking a 34-11 lead at halftime and 50-15 after three quarters.

The fourth quarter was played in running time and was a 5-5 standoff.

Senior Gracie Freudenthal led the Lady Vikings with 11 points, eight in the first half.

Freshman Jane Lacouture had 3, while freshman Makayla Freeman, sophomore Jasmine Bledsoe and senior Brea Blankenship 2 each.

Cottage Grove senior Matty Ladd had a game-high 16 and junior Halle DeGarlais 12.

In other league games, Marshfield was at Junction City and Marist at Elmira.
