Siuslaw Vikings junior Hayden Muller finished fourth place Thursday in the Oregon Wrestling Association's Women's State Championships at Cottage Grove.

Muller split her four matches, winning twice by pin and losing twice by fall in the 140-pound class.

"Hayden was seeded sixth in the tournament," Siuslaw coach Neil Wartnik said. "In her opening match, she was pitted against the No. 3 seed (Vale junior Tyler Richardson), who just happens to be a two-time girls state champion at 140."

Richardson scored a pin in 1 minute, 14 seconds, sending Muller into the consolation bracket.

"After being pinned by Richardson," Wartnick said, "she rallied to pick up a pair of wins (by pin) to qualify for the consolation championship match."

Muller pinned Madelyn Russell of Banks in 2:08 and Megan LaCombe of Hidden Valley in 2:22, setting up a rematch with South Regional champion Averie Stockwell of Thurston.

Stockwell, who beat Muller in the championship semifinals in regionals, pinned Muller in 3:53 Thursday to take third place.

"Even though Hayden was pinned, she had the Thurston girl on her back for 10 seconds at one point and had her in danger of pin," Wartnick said. "Shortly thereafter, (Stockwell) reversed and pinned Hayden. It was an exciting match."

Oregon City junior Bella Amaro beat Richardson in the title match, 5-2.
