Siuslaw cheerleaders Ashlyn Hart, Ally Contreras, Haylee Cole and Brooke Olson have been chosen for the United Spirit Association's All-American team, Vikings coach Terimarie Straley announced.

"We had nine teammates try out," Straley said. "Those chosen will get a chance to work with other high schoolers around the nation and travel to events all over the world."

The four cheerleaders include one from each class — freshman Hart, sophomore Contreras, junior Cole and senior caption Olson.

"Brooke was also awarded an invitation to try out for the United Spirit Association staff for the 2022 year," Straley said.

Fall practice begins this coming Monday (Aug. 16). First event is the Vikings football opener against South Umpqua on Friday, Sept. 3, at Hans Petersen Memorial Field.

The team has a car wash scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Sears parking lot, 685-A Highway 101.
