Youth soccer delays opening to Sept. 25

The Siuslaw Youth Soccer Association has announced a one-week delay in opening its fall.

The opening matches of the popular youth program are now scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25, at Miller Park.

"We still need coaches for some U8, U10 and U12 divisions," SYSA president Cameron Jagoe said. "That is why we are starting the 25th, to give more time to finding coaches."

Current coaches will get their rosters at a meeting tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 7).

"If you or anyone you know are interested in coaching, please contact us," Jagoe said. "If you would like to come to the coaches' meeting tonight and get started, reach out to us before 5 p.m."

Phone 541-600-4409 or email siuslawyouthsoccer@gmail.com.

"SYSA is 100 percent volunteer run," Jagoe said. "If you are interested in volunteering, you are welcome to join us. No part is too small."

Some 185 youth have registered for this fall, enough to field 22 teams.

"Teams are looking really good," Jagoe said. "It's going to be a great season."
