Vikings coast to victory over Sisters at Bend

Siuslaw senior running back Camp Lacouture

The Siuslaw Vikings' unbeaten football team was on something of a mission Friday night.

After some four hours plus on a bus, on a game ultimately moved from Sisters to Bend, it was mission accomplished.

Siuslaw 50, Sisters 0, with the Vikings improving to 2-0.

Siuslaw next plays this coming Friday at the Gladstone Gladiators, who fell to 1-2 with a 42-14 loss at Marist.

Vikings senior running back Camp Lacouture had a big night Friday against the Outlaws with 23 points, including rushing touchdowns of 6, 18 and 12 yards, all in the second quarter.

Siuslaw senior quarterback Beau Erickson passed for three touchdowns, all in the first quarter, on plays of 6, 18 and 12 yards.

Senior wide receiver Braydon Thornton had two TD catches, senior tight end Rhys Fleming a TD reception and freshman quarterback Andrew Jensen Norman a TD run.

The Vikings made a bad day miserable for the Outlaws, who lost the home-field advantage, their starting quarterback and the game, all on Homecoming night.

Sisters' air quality turned so bad Friday that the game had to either be moved or canceled.

It was moved, to the new $220 million Caldera High School in Bend.

There, the Vikings defense manhandled the Outlaws, knocking starting quarterback Griffin Gardner out of the game in the second quarter.

The long Homecoming festivities were almost as long as the second half, which was played with a running clock.
