Thompson finishes season with 2-0 record


Former Siuslaw standout Jake Thompson was 2-0 this season in 31 2-3 innings of relief in the Red Sox minor league system.

Siuslaw graduate Jake Thompson finished his Boston Red Sox minor league baseball season Sunday, three days ahead of his 27th birthday.

Thompson, born in Florence Sept. 22, 1994, finished his 2021 campaign with a 2-0 record, 4.55 earned run average and a walks and hits per innings pitch (WHIP) of 1.80.

The former Oregon State all-American had 31 strikeouts in 31 2-3 innings pitching for the Portland (Maine) Sea Dogs and the Greenville (S.C.) Drive.

His minor league career now includes a 7-17 record, 4.97 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 143 strikeouts in 175 2-3 innings.

Thompson has appeared in 67 games over his career, 33 as a starter.
