The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team vaulted to No. 7 today in the Oregon School Activities Association 4A rankings.

That comes on the heals of Saturday's tournament championship at Junction City.

"That was a good day in Viking volleyball!" Siuslaw coach Kari Blake said. "We we were undefeated on the day and took home first place in the gold bracket!"

The sweep of four schools Saturday sets up a showdown at home Tuesday against No. 6-ranked and Sky-Em League leader Cottage Grove at Glenn Butler Court.

The Lady Lions are 4-0 in league, the Lady Vikings tied with Marshfield for second at 3-1. First serve is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

"It was a great day and the girls played so focused from start to finish," Blake said. "We only dropped one set all day, and it was in the championship game."

The Lady Vikings beat tournament host Junction City in the championship match, 22-25, 25-5, 25-12.

Earlier, in the bracket-play semifinals, Siuslaw beat Klamath Union, 26-24, 25-9.

In pool play, the Lady Vikings dispatched Woodburn, 25-14, 25-6, and Tillamook, 25-23, 25-14.

"It was an exciting week in Siuslaw sports!" Blake said.
