Colton, Lady Vikings second at Mariman run

Siuslaw senior Rylee Colton and the Lady Vikings both finished second Saturday at the Paul Mariman Invitational cross country race in Philomath.

Senior Jennifer Tsai won in 19 minutes, 24.9 seconds and four Spartans finished in the top seven as Marist won the team title, 42-60, over Siuslaw.

Host Philomath was third with 80 points, Bandon fourth with 108 and Tillamook fifth with 152.

Marist, Siuslaw and Philomath were 1-2-3 in the OSAAtoday preseason poll.

Colton was  the only other runner under 20 minutes at 19:47.7.

Siuslaw freshman Addison McNeill was eighth (seventh in team scoring) in a personal-record 20:36.0, sophomore Jane Lacouture 13th (11th) in a PR 21:10.3, freshman Maya Wells 20th (16th) in a PR 21:33.1 and freshman Macy McNeill 34th (29th) in 22:33.0.

Vikings sophomore Corduroy Holbrook was 36th (31st) in 22:35.6.

Tsai led wire to wire, while Colton was third at the 1.6K split and second at the 3.9K split and finish.

Addison McNeill was 17th after 1.6K, moving steadily up in the pack.

Siuslaw next competes in the West Coast Classic on Friday at the Alderbrook Golf Course in Tillamook.

The Vikings' Run for the Brownies is Oct. 21 at the Florence Golf Course.

The Sky-Em League championships are Oct. 28 in Eugene and the OSAA 4A State Championships Nov. 6 in Eugene.

The Siuslaw girls are defending state champions.
