Siuslaw grad pitches in for women's sports

Nina-Grace Aaron (Class of 2020) was an all-star pitcher on the Siuslaw softball team.

Siuslaw graduate Nina-Grace Aaron may one day take on the world, but for now she's taking on a new gig at NBC as the University of Oregon ambassador to the podcast On Her Turf.

"My career goal is to close the racial and gender inequality gap in sports," Aaron said.

The former Lady Vikings student-athlete is a sophomore at Oregon, with a double major in Ethnic Studies and Journalism and a minor in Sports Business.

"The job started about a week ago, and it's virtual," Aaron said. "My job is to promote women's sports leagues such as the WNBA, NWSL and the Olympics.

"Right now I'm focusing on the WNBA playoffs and the Winter Olympics. I am also in charge of promoting women's sports on campus and growing the overall fan base of women's sports."

Aaron and co-worker Nic Singh are charged with providing social media content from games.

"On Her Turf posts it on their social media so Oregon's women's team fan base will grow," she said. "I find creative ways to draw a crowd to the games, and then I also try to find ways during the game to keep fans involved while promoting On Her Turf."

On Her Turf is available on Instagram and Twitter and has a blog and a podcast. There also is a daily show on the Peacock streaming service.
