Colton, Lady Vikings win West Coast Classic

Siuslaw senior Rylee Colton tuned up for her final Sky-Em League cross country championships Friday with a victory at the West Coast Classic at Alderbrook Golf Course in Tillamook.

Siuslaw won the team title with 34 points as freshman Addison McNeill and sophomore Corduroy Holbrook also finished in the top 10.

Colton finished in 19 minutes, 16.5 seconds to beat Neah-Kah-Nie senior Jordan White by more than 12 seconds. McNeill was fifth in a personal-record 20:06.8 and Holbrook 10th in a PR 21:00.6.

Siuslaw freshman Maya Wells was 12th in a PR 21:06.9 and sophomore Jane Lacouture 13th in a PR 21:08.8.

Freshman Macy McNeill was 15th in 21:55.1.

Friday's win was the first of the season for Colton, who was second at both the Paul Mariman Invitational and the Woahink Lake Invitational.

St. Mary's Academy (Portland) was second in the team race with 43 points, followed by Tillamook with 82, Newport with 99, Seaside with 118, Astoria with 133 and Westside Christian (Tigard) with 151.

Siuslaw's Run for the Brownies is Thursday at the Florence Golf Club, the Sky-Em League championships Oct. 28 in Eugene and the state championships Nov. 6 in Eugene.

Both the district and state championships are at Lane Community College.
