Vikings drop to No. 3 in OSAA 3A rankings

The Siuslaw Vikings dropped from No. 1 down to No. 3 Saturday in the Oregon School Activities Association 3A football computer rankings.

Siuslaw beat Pleasant Hill 66-19 on Thursday, but the Vikings saw their RPI rank drop from No. 2 to No. 5 and their Colley Rank from No. 1 to No. 2. RPI and Colley are combined to achieve an overall ranking.

South Umpqua (7-0) moved to No. 1. Rainier (6-1) is No. 2, Warrenton (4-2) No. 4 and Junction City (5-0) No. 5.

La Pine (3-3) jumped to No. 6 after demolishing visiting Santiam Christian on Friday, 42-0.

Siuslaw (6-0) plays No. 13 Santiam Christian (3-3) Friday at Adair Village, then closes the regular season the following Friday (Oct. 29) at Junction City.

Junction City will be at La Pine on Friday.

Junction City beat visiting Sisters, 50-22, on Friday in the second meeting between the two schools this season. For some reason, both games are being treated as league games by the OSAA.

Elsewhere Friday, No. 1 South Umpqua won at Sutherlin, 35-6, and No. 2 Rainier won at No. 4 Warrenton, 32-12.

South Umpqua completes its regular season Friday at Cascade Christian in Medford.

Rainier, No. 1 in the most-recent OSAAtoday coaches poll, has two games remaining, hosting Clatskanie on Friday and finishing Friday, Oct. 29 at Corbett.

Siuslaw was No. 2 in the most-recent coaches poll.
