Siuslaw's nonleague girls basketball game Wednesday at Pleasant Hill matched two schools hungry for win.

Next school year, it likely will pit two schools fighting for a Mountain Valley Conference title and a spot in the Oregon School Activities Association Class 3A playoffs.

Wednesday, the host Lady Billies (2-3) put down an early marker, pulling away for a 51-10 victory over the Lady Vikings.

Pleasant Hill led 10-6 after the first quarter, 26-8 at halftime and 36-10 after three quarters.

The schools have a rematch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw (0-4) will play 2A Monroe (2-2) at 3 p.m. Friday in an opening game of the Harrisburg Tournament.

Harrisburg is another school destined to be in the same league as Siuslaw and Pleasant Hill next school year.

A final decision by the OSAA is expected to be announced next week.

Other MVC schools are expected to include Creswell, Elmira, La Pine and Sisters.
