The Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball team has pulled out of this weekend's Harrisburg Tournament because of a lack of healthy players, athletic director Chris Johnson announced.

The girls will play as scheduled, topping off at 3 p.m. Friday against 2A Monroe. The Lady Vikings (0-4) are still seeking their first win of the season.

Add Wednesday's scheduled game at Pleasant Hill and that's three games the Vikings boys have had to cancel or postpone this week.

"Chances are we won't make them up since our schedule is pretty tight, but we won't rule it out," Johnson said. 

"We have a lot of kids out sick right now. We are hoping to be able to play the Newport games scheduled for Tuesday, but even that is questionable at this point."

The short-handed Siuslaw boys (2-1) opened the week with a 47-35 loss Monday at North Bend.

The Siuslaw girls will have a game Saturday to be determined by the outcome of games Friday.

Next on the schedule is a home doubleheader Tuesday, Dec. 21, against Newport. It's a rematch of a twin bill Dec. 3 at Newport.
