Two Vikings gain championship semifinals


Siuslaw wrestlers Mason Buss and Dayne Muller each pinned their two opponents Friday to advance to Saturday's championship semifinals in the Grants Pass Winter Kickoff.

Buss improved to 11-1 on the season by pinning Caleb Dalke of South Medford in 1 minute, 22 seconds and Taylor Casey of Mazama in 50 seconds at 170 pounds.

Muller, 3-2, pinned Ezekiel Heaton of Mazama in 1:35 and Hayden Murphy of Rainier in 3:18 at 195 pounds.

Hunter Petterson, 7-6, still is alive in the 138 consolation bracket.

Joel Sissel (170), Chance O'Brien (195) and Cort Waggoner (220) all advanced to the championship semifinals of the boys junior varsity tournament.

Siuslaw has six athletes entered in the Grants Pass Girls Winter Kickoff which gets underway Saturday.

Entries include Chris Hoover (100), Macali Cade (110), Bailey Overton (120), Rosa Velasco Mendez (125), Brooke Olson (135) and Hayden Muller (140).
