The Siuslaw Vikings wrestling team won six of eight matches contested Wednesday, but still fell 42-36 to the Marshfield Pirates in Coos Bay.

The host Pirates picked up just enough forfeit wins for the victory.

"We wrestled very well," Siuslaw coach Neil Wartnik said. "Our lineup was depleted due to sickness, injury and travel."

Vikings posting wins included Rosa Velasco-Mendez, Yoskar De la Mora, Hunter Petterson, Leonardo Robertson, Cort Waggoner and Aiden Armstrong.

Joel Sissel won by forfeit.

Siuslaw was scheduled to also wrestle Tillamook in a dual, but weather prevented them from competing, Wartnik said.

The Vikings will be home for their next scheduled match, the Sky-Em Dual Meet Championships on Thursday, Jan. 6.
