Siuslaw to host regional finals on Saturday


Siuslaw will host the 4A Special District 2 boys wrestling championships Saturday at Glenn Butler Court.

Action gets underway at 10 a.m., with eight schools hoping to qualify athletes in 14 weight classes for the Oregon School Activities Association state championships.

The 4A state championships are Saturday, Feb. 26, at Cascade High School in Turner.

The top four in each weight class in each of the four regionals qualify for the bracket of 16.

Other schools competing include Cascade, Elmira/Crow, Junction City, Newport, Philomath, Stayton and Sweet Home.

Sweet Home is ranked No. 1 in the final OSAAtoday 4A coaches poll. Philomath is No. 6 and Cascade No. 9.

The Vikings, who had been ranked No. 8, dropped out of the top 10.

Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students (K-12). Tickets are online at bit.ly/siuslawtickets.

Masks are required, and action will be stopped if spectators fail to follow masking guidelines.
