The Siuslaw Vikings boys basketball team has a new challenge in perhaps its most challenging season ever.

The Vikings are set to end the regular season with six games in seven days, starting Saturday and taking only Sunday off.

"We are in the middle of our quarantine," Siuslaw coach Dylan Perry said Monday. "Looks like we will have most everyone at practice today, hopefully.

"It's been a challenging season for our guys for lots of reasons. They're competitors, though, so they'll be ready to give it their all down the stretch."

The six-game going begins at No. 1-ranked Junction City at 4 p.m. Saturday, followed by a game at 5:45 p.m. Monday at Elmira.

The Vikings then have three home games in a row — Tuesday vs. Junction City, Wednesday vs. Marist and Thursday vs. Marshfield on what likely will be Senior Night.

Siuslaw caps its eight-day marathon Friday, Feb. 18, at Cottage Grove.

"We obviously will have to tread lightly, and it is one game and day at a time," Siuslaw athletic director Chris Johnson cautioned.

The Lady Vikings have four games remaining, starting with Tuesday at home against Marshfield. Tip-off is 5:45 p.m.

The Siuslaw girls will be at Elmira on Friday, at home Tuesday, Feb. 15, against Junction City for senior night and at Cottage Grove on Friday, Feb. 18, in the season finale.
