Vikings' Mason Buss seeded No. 6 at state


Siuslaw junior Mason Buss is the highest Vikings seed entering Saturday's Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A wrestling championships at Cascade High School in Turner.

Buss is seeded No. 6 at 160 pounds, and will face unseeded sophomore Zach Humphery of Hidden Valley in the first round.

Vikings junior Yoskar De la Mora is seeded No. 7 at 126 and sophomore Dayne Muller No. 7 at 195.

Freshman Joel Sissel (170) and sophomore Cort Waggoner (220) are unseeded in the 16-man championship brackets.

Admission is $20. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, and are online at www.osaa.org/shop/tickets.

  • Freshman Joel Sissel (25-10), unseeded at 170, faces No. 4 seed Marcelo Camargo (12-2), a Phoenix junior.
  • Sophomore Dayne Muller (14-6), No. 7 seed at 195, faces unseeded Ayden Rambel (6-4), a Banks freshman.
  • Sophomore Cort Waggoner (18-11), unseeded at 220, faces No. 3 seed Mishael Mauck (24-6), a Banks sophomore.

FORSYTHE SERVICES

A memorial service for the late Robert Forsythe, a Vikings assistant coach and Dunes City mayor, is 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Florence Events Center.

Forsythe died Feb. 8 at the age of 72.
