The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team dives into its first season of Mountain Valley Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 8, when it hosts Harrisburg at Glenn Butler Court.

Siuslaw will be a member of the Class 3A league for at least the next four school seasons.

The Lady Vikings, under first-year head coach Kari Blake, finished their final season in Class 4A with a No. 8 ranking in the OSAA, a 15-9 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the state playoffs.

One of their new league mates is Sisters, which also is dropping from Class 4A, finishing with a No. 1 ranking, a 22-4 record and a runner-up to Cascade in the state championship final.

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to play Thursday, Aug. 25, in the Marshfield jamboree.

Siuslaw opens its season Saturday, Aug. 25, at Coquille with matches against Bandon and Coquille.

First practice is Monday, Aug. 15.
